Apologies but I am currently unable to take any new under 18s students on due to being fully booked. (Oct 2019)

I also work with song-writing and accompanying oneself as a singer on guitar or piano. I run two student concerts each year to give students the opportunity to develop their performance skills and learn how to deal with performance nerves.

I have taught young people how to play music for the last 18 years and find it a thoroughly rewarding and joyful area of my work with music. My teaching work involves music from the jazz, classical, pop, folk and musical theatre genres. Many of my previous students have gone on to have successful careers as professional musicians, and many have gone on to have careers which have nothing to do with music, but they have carried their love of music alongside them.
My students who have chosen to take the ABRSM Piano or Singing exams have achieved great results, and the ABRSM has just announced that they will be running Singing for Musical Theatre Exams from 2019 onwards, which is something I am also very happy to work on with my students if they are interested. Equally I am very happy for students to not take any exams at all and just to focus on developing their ability and enjoyment of playing music.
I have a PVG Disclosure and I am also experienced in teaching music to young people who have dyslexia, dyspraxia or suffer from confidence issues – music seems to create such a fantastic environment for them to develop not only musically but in their confidence and self-esteem levels too.
